The Slab

This place is known simply as "The Slab". It got its name from the fact it was a ford across the Cahaba river. A wide slab of concrete was poured all the way across the river bottom. The water is usually about 1 to 3 feet deep here. You can still drive across it but you will probably need a 4 wheel drive vehicle. Many holes have been washed out of the slab by the water. It is a favorite gathering place for locals. The Slab is located just south of Shelby county 13 on the Cahaba river. Most of these pictures are of my children.  Somehow I failed to get a close-up picture of Lael and Madeline. The year was 2007. See more at our GALLERY.  Mick
