We had ridden the Blue Ridge Parkway many times over the years but had never covered the entire length of it. In June of 2009 I decided we had to ride the entire length of the parkway so we could check it off our list, so Debbie and I rode all the way from Asheville North Carolina to mile marker zero. We rode the section from Cherokee to Asheville the year before.
I had told people for years the BRP was closed to commercial traffic and had no traffic lights. I was astonished to see a traffic light at the Craggy Gardens visitor center. It was mounted on a trailer and only temporary but it was a traffic light. See below.
